Sometimes I get lucky and a painting comes out better than I expected – so much so that I need to stop before I ruin it. Compare these two images:

The Metamorphosis one was ready before it was at this stage. I wanted to include the spell effect, though, so I forced myself to do a little bit more than I wanted to. The end result is clearly out of a comic book, but I still wanted to leave it the way it is. I wanted the drawing to show in the final result.
The Dragon Mask painting, on the other hand, was planned exactly the way it is: I took my time with it and painted until I knew I could get no further.
Both of these paintings will probably get re-painted sooner or later, depending on how quickly I get new ideas.
